Terms of participation

These terms cover membership of the OpinionReady panel: how rewards are earned, the circumstances in which a reward can be withheld, how you dispute a decision, and when an account may be closed. They are written so that a member can tell in advance what will happen, rather than discovering it afterwards.

1. Membership

1.1 Membership is free and always will be. We will never ask a member to pay a fee, buy a package, or deposit funds. Any site asking you to do so is not us.

1.2 One account per person. Accounts sharing a device are grouped and may receive fewer invitations; this reduces invitations rather than closing accounts, because shared devices in a household are common and legitimate.

1.3 You must be old enough to consent to data processing in your country, and the profile information you give must be accurate to the best of your knowledge.

2. Rewards

2.1 Each study states its reward and expected length before you begin. The stated reward is what you receive on completion.

2.2 Screen-outs and quota-fulls are paid. If you answer a screener honestly and do not qualify, or the quota fills while you are answering, you are compensated for the time. You are not paid for sessions terminated for the reasons in clause 3.

2.3 Rewards are credited on receipt of the completion signal from the study. Where both a browser return and a server confirmation arrive, the reward is credited once.

3. When a reward can be withheld

3.1 A reward may be withheld only where a named check has fired and been recorded. The checks are published in full on our fraud prevention page and include duplicate accounts, contradicted profile answers, completion far below the study’s own median, straight-lined matrices, failed attention checks, and repeated free-text answers.

3.2 You will be told which check fired and what was observed. We will not withhold a reward with a general reference to a breach of terms, because a reason you cannot examine is a reason you cannot dispute.

3.3 A withheld reward is a single-session decision. It does not close your account on its own.

4. Disputes

4.1 Any withheld reward can be disputed from your account within 60 days. A dispute is reviewed by a person, not by the system that made the original decision.

4.2 A successful dispute restores both the reward and the effect on your quality score.

4.3 If we cannot resolve a dispute to your satisfaction, we will say so plainly and explain what evidence we relied on.

5. Payment

5.1 The minimum cash-out is $5. Balances do not expire and are not reduced by inactivity.

5.2 A first cash-out requires a verified email address, an account at least 72 hours old, and a quality score at or above 60. These conditions apply once, to the first withdrawal.

5.3 Requests may be held for review where device or address patterns suggest duplicate accounts. Reviews are resolved within five working days and you are told the outcome either way.

6. Quality score

6.1 Every member starts at 80 out of 100. The score moves on recorded events, each of which is visible to you with its date and reason.

6.2 The score affects which studies you are matched to and whether a cash-out is reviewed. It is not a permanent judgement and it recovers with ordinary participation.

7. Closing an account

7.1 You may close your account at any time. Any balance at or above the minimum can be withdrawn first; below that threshold it is forfeited, which is why the threshold is kept low.

7.2 We may close an account for operating multiple accounts, for automated or scripted participation, or for a sustained pattern of the behaviours in clause 3 after warnings. Closure for these reasons forfeits an unpaid balance attributable to the conduct concerned.

7.3 Closure decisions can be disputed under clause 4.

8. Changes to these terms

8.1 Members are notified by email before material changes take effect. Continued participation after that date constitutes acceptance.
